Nick Sainato

Varsity Coach

Nick Sainato enters his first year as Varsity basketball coach.  He spent the last 11 years as a teacher and coach at Clovis West High School.  At Clovis West he served as the JV coach and Varsity assistant.  He graduated from Calvary Chapel Moreno Valley where he was a three year captain.  He continued his playing at Mt. San Jacinto College and was a two year Captain for the team.  Nick received his bachelors and teaching credential in Kinesiology at Cal State Fullerton, where he also served as an assistant coach for the Men’s team for three years.  He later earned his master’s degree at Fresno State in Educational Leadership.  He and his wife Stephanie, also a school teacher, reside in Foothill Ranch.

Donavon Jackson

Assistant Varsity Coach

Coach Donavon Jackson is entering his 4th year of coaching at El Toro and this will be his 1st year as an Assistant Varsity Coach. For his first two years of coaching he served as the Head Coach for the Boys Sophomore Team and last year he served as the Head Coach for the Boys Junior Varsity Team. As an alumnus of El Toro High School he played Basketball for the Chargers from 2005-2009. After his tenure at El Toro he continued playing basketball at California State University Eastbay from 2009-2014, where he received his degree in Psychology. Coach Jackson currently resides in Lake Forest with his fiancé and enjoys; spending time with family, photography, and watching comedies.

Jeff Gomez

Varsity Assistant Coach

Jeff Gomez, First Year at El Toro , this is my 36 year as a Varsity Assistant Coach, Prior to coming to El Toro Coach was at Foothill High School for 12 years as the number 1 assistant , were he was a invaluable part of 2 CIF Championship’s and 5 League Championships and helped Foothill develop into one of the top programs in Southern California. Before coming to Foothill Coach was at Villa Park High for 9 years as a number 1 assistant and was apart of 9 League Championship’s and 4 Trip’s too CIF Finals and 3 trips to State Tournament Finals. In the late 80’s Coach was a big part of Orange High School success Were he spent 7 years as a assistant Under Tustin High School head coach Rich Bossenmeyer . Coach Gomez got his first coaching experience at ST. Anthony high school in Long Beach were he was a varsity assistant for 8 years. During his spare time he enjoys spending time with his daughter Broklynn and son Jeffrey.
